Website Privacy Policy

How STX Therapy Co. PLLC collects, uses, protects, and retains information submitted through this website.

Effective date: August 2026. Reviewed at least annually.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

STX Therapy Co. PLLC operates this website as an informational resource for people considering therapy, for current clients, and for colleagues in the community. We understand that visiting the website of a behavioral health practice can itself feel sensitive, and we have designed this site to collect as little information as possible.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected through stxtherapy.com, how that information is used, with whom it may be shared, how long it is kept, and what choices you have. Please read it together with our Notice of Privacy Practices, which governs protected health information created in the course of clinical care and provides additional protections required by federal and Texas law.

Using this website does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Information submitted through this website is not treated as protected health information unless and until you become a client of the practice.

Information We Collect

We collect two general categories of information.

The first is information you choose to give us. This includes the information you enter into our contact form, information you provide when you email or telephone the practice, and information you provide when scheduling or inquiring about an appointment.

The second is information collected automatically when you visit the site. Like most websites, our hosting platform records limited technical information, which may include your Internet Protocol address, general geographic region inferred from that address, browser type and version, operating system and device type, the pages you view and the time spent on them, the referring website or search engine, and the date and time of your visit. This information is aggregated and used to understand how the site performs. We do not attempt to use it to identify individual visitors.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, insurance identification numbers, financial account numbers, or payment card information through this website.

Information Voluntarily Submitted Through Our Contact Form

Our contact form asks for your first and last name, your email address, an optional telephone number, your preferred contact method, the type of inquiry you are making, optional general availability, and a brief message. It also asks you to acknowledge that the form is not intended for sensitive health information or emergencies.

Please do not include symptoms, diagnoses, medications, trauma history, insurance identification numbers, or other sensitive details in the form. The form exists to begin a conversation, not to gather clinical information.

Submissions are delivered by email to contact@stxtherapy.com and are reviewed individually by the practice. Messages are not monitored continuously and are not monitored for emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.

Submitting the form does not create a therapist-client relationship, does not schedule an appointment, and does not obligate you to begin care.

Website Analytics and Cookies

This website is hosted on the Squarespace platform. Squarespace sets a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to function, that support security, and that allow basic, aggregated measurement of site traffic. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser.

We do not use this website to build advertising profiles, we do not sell visitor data, and we do not run behavioral advertising or retargeting campaigns based on your visit.

If analytics services such as Google Analytics or Google Search Console are added in the future, this policy will be updated before those services are enabled, and the purpose and scope of any measurement will be described here.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Most browsers also offer a Do Not Track setting. Because there is no consistent industry standard for interpreting Do Not Track signals, this site does not respond to them differently at this time. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of the site function.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above to respond to inquiries submitted through the website, to schedule and coordinate appointments, to provide information about services, fees, and availability, to maintain the security and reliability of the website, to understand in aggregate how visitors use the site so that content can be improved, and to meet our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations.

We do not use website information for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

Third-Party Services

Operating a modern practice requires a small number of trusted service providers. These may include our website hosting and form delivery platform, our email provider, scheduling software, an electronic health record system, secure telehealth software, and payment processing services.

Each of these providers has access only to the information necessary to perform its function, and each is bound by its own privacy commitments. Where a provider handles protected health information on our behalf, we require a Business Associate Agreement consistent with HIPAA before that provider is used.

This website may link to third-party resources, including crisis and public health organizations. We provide those links because the information is useful. We do not control those websites, and their privacy practices are their own. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Data Retention

We retain information only as long as there is a legitimate reason to do so.

General website inquiries that do not result in services are retained for a limited period sufficient to respond and to maintain a reasonable record of communication, and are then deleted. Aggregated analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of the hosting platform.

Clinical records are governed by different rules. Where an inquiry becomes a clinical relationship, the resulting records are retained in accordance with HIPAA, Texas law, and the record retention requirements applicable to licensed clinical social workers in Texas, which generally require that records be retained for at least seven years after the date of last service, or, for a client who was a minor, for a period extending beyond the client's eighteenth birthday as required by law.

Children's Privacy

This website is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen through this website.

If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Clinical services for minors, when offered, are arranged directly with a parent or legal guardian, and information relating to a minor's care is handled in accordance with HIPAA, Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 611, and applicable consent requirements rather than through this website.

Texas Privacy Compliance

STX Therapy Co. PLLC is located in San Antonio, Texas, and operates under Texas and federal law.

Protected health information is governed by HIPAA, by the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act, and by Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 611, which provides specific protections for mental health records and generally requires patient consent before mental health information is disclosed.

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, effective July 1, 2024, establishes rights for Texas residents regarding personal data, including rights to confirm whether a business processes their data, to access and correct that data, to request deletion, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of the sale of personal data and of targeted advertising. Information governed by HIPAA is generally exempt from that statute, and we do not sell personal data or engage in targeted advertising.

Regardless of which framework applies, our practice is the same: collect only what is necessary, use it only for the purpose it was provided, protect it appropriately, and delete it when it is no longer needed. If you are a Texas resident and wish to exercise a privacy right, contact us and we will respond as required by law.

AI-Assisted Administrative Workflows

STX Therapy uses technology thoughtfully and discloses that use openly.

Artificial intelligence tools may be used to support administrative and operational work, such as drafting and editing website content, improving the clarity of general educational material, organizing internal documentation, and streamlining routine administrative tasks.

Clinical judgment is never delegated to artificial intelligence. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic decision-making are performed by a licensed clinician. Protected health information is not entered into general-purpose or consumer artificial intelligence tools. Where any technology vendor may encounter protected health information in the course of providing services to the practice, that vendor is required to execute a Business Associate Agreement and to meet HIPAA security requirements before use.

If our use of these tools changes in a way that affects your information, this policy will be updated and the change described here.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold, including encrypted transmission for this website, access controls, secure and vetted vendors, and limits on who within the practice may access information.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Because of this, we ask that you avoid sending sensitive clinical information by email or through the website contact form. Secure alternatives are available once care begins, and we will explain them to you.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, our technology, or applicable law. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be described here, and continued use of the website after an update constitutes awareness of the revised policy.
