STX THERAPY
Understanding the Person.
Navigating the Systems That Shape Your Life.
Evidence-based therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, professional stress, and complexities of everyday life.
Healing is influenced by more than symptoms alone. Therapy explores the interplay of experiences, relationships, environments, and systems that shape your life, helping you build insight, resilience, and meaningful change through evidence-based care.
Understanding is the beginning of healing.
How We Help
Every person's story is unique. Whether you're navigating a specific mental health concern or feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, therapy provides a space to understand your experiences, strengthen your resilience, and move toward meaningful change.
Common reasons people seek therapy:
Emotional health — anxiety and chronic stress, depression and mood concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, grief and loss, and trauma or adverse life experiences
Relationships and identity — relationship challenges, identity exploration and self-understanding, and personal growth and resilience
Life and responsibility — life transitions and professional stress or burnout
If you're unsure whether therapy is right for your situation, you're welcome to reach out. Together, we can determine whether STX Therapy is a good fit for your needs.
Why STX Exists
At STX Therapy, we believe every person exists within interconnected systems—family, relationships, work, culture, community, health, and lived experience.
Rather than reducing people to symptoms or diagnoses, we seek to understand the whole person and the systems influencing their life.
Our goal extends beyond symptom reduction. We help people develop deeper understanding, greater psychological flexibility, and the confidence to navigate future challenges long after therapy ends.
Understanding is the foundation.
Healing is the process.
Understanding becomes a way of living.
Areas of Focus
Every person arrives with a different story—different relationships, strengths, and challenges. Our services are designed to meet you where you are and help you build clarity, resilience, and lasting growth.
Every area of focus begins with the same commitment: understanding the person before developing a path toward healing.

Every course of therapy begins with understanding.
Therapy Across Texas
STX Therapy is headquartered in San Antonio, where clients are welcomed in person. Everywhere else in Texas, care travels.
Across South Texas, distance has always been one of the quietest barriers to behavioral health care. A person in Edinburg, McAllen, Pharr, or Alamo may find that the nearest clinician with the right training is hours away. The same is true along the border in Laredo and Eagle Pass, and inland through Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, Asherton, and Big Wells, and north through Pearsall, Dilley, and Uvalde, where the drive is often longer than the session.
Secure virtual therapy changes that arithmetic. Eligible clients located anywhere in Texas at the time of their appointment can meet with STX from wherever they can close a door. The clinical work is unchanged: the same evidence-based treatment, the same clinician, the same standard of care.
Telehealth also protects something harder to measure. Careers relocate people, semesters end, and family obligations pull people between towns. Care that can follow a person across the state is care that does not have to begin again.
For many families in the Rio Grande Valley, and in the communities between the Valley and San Antonio, that is the difference between considering therapy and actually beginning it. Access is not an accessory to treatment. It is a precondition for it.
Headquartered in San Antonio, STX Therapy also provides secure virtual therapy for eligible clients throughout Texas, where telehealth is clinically appropriate.
What to Expect
Beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar. Our goal is to create a thoughtful, collaborative process that helps you feel informed, supported, and understood from the very first conversation.
Begin with a Conversation
We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and determine whether STX is the right fit for your needs.
Develop a Personalized Plan
Together we'll identify meaningful goals and create an individualized approach informed by evidence-based care, clinical expertise, and your lived experiences.
Grow Through Understanding
Therapy is a process of developing insight, strengthening resilience, and creating sustainable change that continues long after sessions end.
Meaningful therapy begins with a single conversation.
Whether you're beginning therapy for the first time or returning after years away, our commitment remains the same: to understand your story, meet you where you are, and provide evidence-based care that supports meaningful, lasting change.
Our Clinical Philosophy
Every person carries a story shaped by more than a diagnosis. We take time to understand that story fully before recommending change.
Access & Investment in Care
We believe access to care should be transparent, understandable, and respectful. Whether using insurance or private pay, our goal is to help you make informed decisions before therapy begins.

Uninsured and self-pay clients may receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges in accordance with applicable federal requirements.

FOUNDER & CLINICAL LEADERSHIP
STX Therapy was founded by Jake Ledesma, MSSW, LCSW, Founder & Clinical Director, whose career spans direct clinical practice and behavioral health leadership across South Texas.
