About STX Therapy

Understanding the person before recommending change.

At STX Therapy, we believe meaningful healing begins with understanding. Every person arrives with a unique story shaped by relationships, family systems, work, culture, identity, health, and life experiences.

Our role is not simply to reduce symptoms—it is to understand the whole person and develop evidence-based treatment that supports lasting change.

Our Clinical Philosophy

Abstract STX artwork of layered South Texas landforms and flowing lines, representing the systems and experiences that shape a person's life.

Rather than asking,

"What's wrong with you?"

we begin by asking,

"What has shaped your life?"

This perspective guides every assessment, treatment plan, and therapeutic relationship at STX Therapy. Learn more about our clinical philosophy.

Why I Created STX

STX was created from a simple belief: meaningful healing begins with understanding. After years in behavioral health and healthcare leadership across South Texas, I saw that people’s lives could never be explained by a diagnosis alone. STX exists to understand the whole person first.

“The greatest privilege in therapy is not giving advice. It is understanding another person’s life deeply enough that meaningful change becomes possible.”

— Jake Ledesma, MSSW, LCSW, Founder & Clinical Director, STX Therapy Co. PLLC
